Presentation
The Anacostia Waterfront Initiative is a partnership between the federal government and the District of Columbia to create a vision for waterfront areas along the long neglected Anacostia River in Washington DC. Over the last five years this partnership has created a vision for an energized waterfront that will revitalize waterfront neighborhoods, enhance and protect park areas, improve quality of water and environment, and increase access to activities along the waterfront. In order to implement this vision, Washington Mayor Anthony A. Williams recently established the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation (AWC). Andrew Altman, President of the AWC, will discuss the vision for the Anacostia river and how the AWC is working to make this vision a reality. |
