Kimberly Worthington, P.E., LEED A.P.

Kimberly Worthington is the Deputy Commissioner of the Urban Management and Brownfield Redevelopment Division of the City of Chicago Department of Environment. Ms. Worthington’s work includes establishing electronics recycling in Chicago and constructing the City Hall Rooftop Garden. She is currently overseeing the conversion of the Stearn’s Quarry Landfill to a park with a fishing pond. Her responsibilities include managing the division’s technical staff to:

• Evaluate, clean-up and provide for the redevelopment of properties for City projects;
• Provide professional project management, technical advice and support to other City Departments and Agencies;
• Manage the Shoreline Protection Project and reconstruction;
• Provide technical support for the green roof and urban heat island initiatives;
• Develop and implement programs designed to support the Chicago recycling initiative; and,
• Regulate waste management facilities within the City of Chicago through permitting and inspection activities.

Ms. Worthington is a LEED Accredited Professional and registered Professional Engineer in Illinois. Prior to working for the City of Chicago, she worked for Waste Management, Inc. in Oak Brook, Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
