International Partner
The purpose of this joint initiative is to strive for full exploitation of existing Dutch capacity in the water sector. The NWP will provide a single means of access to the entire range of products and services offered by the Dutch water sector. The Netherlands has vast experience in water management issues, conflicts and projects worldwide, acquired over its many years of international involvement in the field. The NWP will provide a collective means of further strengthening this established global reputation. The NWP is the 'national' discussion partner for bodies like the World Water Council (WWC) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP).

Whatever the subject of the photo may be, the drive to take it is always the same: capturing beauty.
Knowing that beauty is transient and closely connected to mortality.
Rob ’t Hart has been taking architectural photographs since 1993. This site offers a review of his work and through it, displays the development of Dutch architecture and the transformation of a number of urban landscapes in the Netherlands during the last twelve years.
Time and again, finding the right image is a real challenge when taking photographs of architecture. Looking at a project quietly is always the first step of the process. The dialogue with the architect is next, comprising basic assumptions, underlying ideas, specific qualities and spatial concept. Only then will the angle be chosen and the waiting begin: for the right light, the right (cloudy) sky, an accidental passer-by, for the right moment.
Photography is not only about the aesthetics of the picture. It is also about recording time. This is the reason why a number of urban landscapes have been photographed at different moments in time in order to record the transformation of the area. During the renovation of the “Kop van Zuid”, a former harbour area, for instance, or the construction of the building project ‘Wateringseveld’. The entire development of the locality has been recorded: from the virgin landscape to the construction of the homes, to the final annexation by its occupants.
The photographs of architecture on this website all together form a chronicle of the ever-changing urban landscape in the Netherlands. This mutation is a continuing process. Therefore, this site will be growing and will continue to write history.
www.dutchdesignevents.com New York, August 2005
This year, New York's most prestigious museums, retail stores and exhibition spaces will host an unprecedented roster of Dutch design projects, encompassing the various disciplines of fashion, product, interiors and architecture. The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology, Museum of Arts and Design, International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Moss, and Olympus Fashion Week will spotlight the world's leading and emerging Dutch designers. Exhibitions by Tord Boontje, Viktor and Rolf, Hella Jongerius, Claudy Jongstra, Droog Design, Dutch Fashion Foundation, and many more will exemplify the best of Dutch design.
Orange Alert: Dutch Design in New York serves as an official campaign to highlight what has shaped up to be an exciting, landmark year. For the first time, all the participating venues are joining together with one goal: to celebrate the work and creative process of talented Dutch designers. It is the culmination of many years of nurturing and supporting this talent by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York. A milestone occurred ten years ago, when the Museum of Modern Art introduced the highly successful Dutch Design Café. Since then, Dutch designers have enjoyed high profile exhibitions throughout the United States, but never before have we seen such a concentrated and unparalleled list of events.
Kicked-off on January 18, 2005 under the auspicies of Ambassador and Mrs. Boudewijn J. van Eenennaam at Drive-In Studios in New York, and followed by a wide array of events and projects, so far, press attention for Orange Alert and upcoming Dutch design projects has been wonderful, with write-ups in essential media outlets such as Style.com, Time Out New York, New York Times, Wireimage, DWR newsletter, Washington Post, The Guardian, House & Garden, Hint Magazine, multiple pages at Designvormgeving.nl, as well as Mediamatic, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, a dedication as “site of the month" on House of Design, and news items on Dutch television, including NOVA and RTL news with Max Westerman.
There has been a great amount of interest in Orange Alert Dutch Design. Additional projects and events have already been implemented and kick-started in New York, and moreover, venues across the U.S. have expressed interest in additional projects. Stay tuned for Orange Alert Dutch Design events in Miami, Washington DC, Chicago and Los Angeles later in 2005 and 2006.
We are truly proud of, and grateful to all the participating designers, organizations, sponsors and individuals that have contributed to Orange Alert Dutch Design. Be sure to visit www.dutchdesignevents.com to get information about all the events and to be kept up-to-date about Orange Alert Dutch Design developments throughout the year and beyond.
